Bang on a Can: Repetition and Difference, a concert featuring violinist Todd Reynolds, will take place at the Jewish Museum on Thursday, July 9 at 7:30pm. Tied to the Museum exhibition Repetition and Difference-exploring how subtle disruptions in form, color, or design can reveal intriguing information about a work's creation and meaning-the performance will highlight difference and repetition in music. This program continues the Jewish Museum and Bang on a Can's partnership to produce a series of dynamic musical performances at the Museum inspired by the Jewish Museum's diverse slate of exhibitions.

The Bang on a Can All-Stars, known for combining "the power and punch of a rock band with the precision and clarity of a chamber ensemble" (New York Times), will give a Carnegie Hall Family Concert on Saturday, February 1, 2014 at 1pm at Carnegie Hall's Zankel Hall, complementing Bang on a Can co-founder David Lang's season-long curation as the holder of the 2013-2014 Richard and Barbara Debs Composer's Chair at Carnegie Hall. Lang will host the program, which includes Tan Dun's Concerto for Six (2000), Don Byron's Eugene with video of American TV iconoclast Ernie Kovacs (2000), and selections from David Lang's Cheating, Lying, Stealing (1995). Before the concert at 12pm, Bang on a Can's social engagement wing Found Sound Nation will host its mobile studio, equipped for concert goers to spontaneously create and record original music, in the Parterre Lobby of Zankel Hall.

Music students from the Hartt School perform in the master class on Monday, March 18, at 7:30 PM, in Wilde Auditorium at the University of Hartford. The master class is open to the public for observation at no charge. The chamber music concert, with a program of Beethoven's Quartet Op. 18, No. 4 and Schubert's Cello Quintet, is Tuesday, March 19, at 7:30 PM, in Lincoln Theater at the University of Hartford. Fifth Annual Playwrights Retreat Begins in Stratford

The Stratford Shakespeare Festival's fifth annual Playwrights Retreat begins today and runs through October 20. This year eight writers from across the country will be in Stratford for the three-week retreat: Meg Braem (Calgary), Matthew Heiti (Sudbury), Daniel Karasik (Toronto), Kevin Loring (Vancouver), Bryden MacDonald (Halifax), Haley McGee (Toronto), Janet Munsil (Victoria) and Elyne Quan (Toronto).
