Westport Country Playhouse has raised $1,941,557 in cash and pledges by the July 31 deadline for its $2 million “Save Your Playhouse” campaign, the Playhouse board of trustees announced today. The campaign's objective is to transform the Playhouse into a performing arts center that appeals to a broader audience while continuing to produce theater.

Westport Country Playhouse's board of trustees have announced that director, playwright, and actor Mark Shanahan has been named as incoming artistic director for the 2024-25 season. He will officially assume the artistic director position in March 2024. Currently, Shanahan is curator of the Playhouse's Script in Hand playreading series.

Virginia Stage Company will present Dial M for Murder by Frederick Knott next year.  This production will run at the Wells Theatre in Downtown Norfolk from January 24 - February 11, 2024 as part of the 45th Season.

The Tony Award-winning Alley Theatre’s 77th season kick-off production – Agatha Christie’s The Murder of Roger Ackroyd, adapted for the stage and directed by Mark Shanahan is now on sale.

Westport Country Playhouse will present a Script in Hand playreading of “Agatha Christie’s The Murder of Roger Ackroyd” on Monday, June 12, at 7 p.m.  From the novel by Agatha Christie, the cunning tale of murder and deception is a brand new adaptation for the stage by Mark Shanahan, who will also direct. This summer, the Alley Theatre in Houston will stage the play’s world premiere production.

Westport Country Playhouse will present a musical concert, “Ari Axelrod - A Place for Us: A Celebration of Jewish Broadway,” on Monday, May 15, at 7 p.m. The internationally acclaimed, award-winning show honors the songs, stories, and contributions to American musical theater by Jewish composers, such as Irving Berlin, Leonard Bernstein, Stephen Sondheim, and Carole King. Tickets are $25.

White Heron Theatre Company has announced its 2023 summer season of professional theatre performances on Nantucket.

 Florida Repertory Theatre has announced casts, directors, and stage managers for its 2023 PlayLab Festival, and the line-up includes ensemble members, returning guest artists, alongside many making their Florida Rep debuts, joining five playwrights from New York, Atlanta, and around the country.

2023-24 Seasonal Auditions for Houston actors will be at Alley Theatre. Auditions will be for AEA and non-AEA adult actors, ages 18 and older. 

Virginia Stage Company has announced its 45th season as Hampton Roads' leading professional producing theatre company.  The season will begin in early October as the historic Wells Theatre will undergo some major renovations over the summer, including seat refurbishment and a new state-of-the-art sound system.

Florida Repertory Theatre will hold its PlayLab Festival May 4 – 7 in the Historic Arcade Theatre. The 2023 PlayLab lineup includes five plays reflecting Florida Rep's mission to produce a wide variety of work by emerging and well-established writers.
