The Windham Theatre Guild is proud to present the world premiere performance of BLESSED EVENT, a new work by local playwright Jim Hetrick from Coventry. After doing a staged reading of BLESSED EVENT in 2009, the Guild is proud to mount this show for its premiere. This new work has been accepted for publication by JAC Publications and Promotions, a major script publishing company.

Somebody once said, "Grandchildren are God's reward to you for not killing your own kids." Charley Dube, the main character of Blessed Event, would agree wholeheartedly with that statement. Charlie is the eighty-year-old patriarch of a lovable, dysfunctional, French-Canadian family residing in West Hartford, CT. Come and visit with this off-beat family as they spend Charlie's last day on this earth grappling with life's issues and reminiscing about the sometimes comical, sometimes touching events that make up a life well-spent. You will walk out of the theater with your heart filled with love, laughter and tears, and you will recognize yourself, your friends and your own family members in the wonderfully human characters. They will live on in your hearts and minds long after the final curtain falls.

BLESSED EVENT will close Sunday, March 6th at 2pm at the Burton Leavitt Theatre, 779 Main Street, Willimantic. Tickets are $15 for adults, $12 for seniors/students and $8 for children under 12 and are available by calling the theatre at 860-423-2245, on-line at windhamtheatreguild.org or at the door.
