The Downtown Cabaret Theatre Presents JOHN LENNON IMAGINED, 2/23

The Downtown Cabaret Theatre presents the awe-inspiring live show, John Lennon Imagined (The Beatles and Solo Years) featuring The Nutopians for Two Performances ONLY on Saturday, February 23at 5pm and 8pm. The Downtown Cabaret Theatre is located 263 Golden Hill Street, Bridgeport, Connecticut.

The Nutopians' live shows will feature poignant song narratives plus entertaining storytelling. Like their award-winning (2011 Independent Music Awards Vox Pop "Tribute Album of the Year") CD "Imagined," each show features superb lead singing and three-part harmonies.

In a series of singles and mini-medleys, the band's arrangements frequently involve weaving melody, lyric and song together in new and unexpected ways. Pete Fornatale, renowned DJ, author and music historian, enthuses The Nutopians are "among the very best Lennon interpreters ever." The group's new (and 2nd) CD "Lennon Re-Imagined" is scheduled for release at the end of February.

The Nutopians, whose name was bestowed upon them by Yoko Ono herself, is an elegant, unique and compelling award-winning eight-piece ensemble created and led by Rex Fowler of Aztec Two-Step and Tom Dean of Devonsquare. The band celebrates the genius and artistry of John Lennon, honoring his music with remarkably fresh acoustic-oriented treatments of his best and least known Beatles and solo-song compositions that often inspire a whole new appreciation for the late icon's music.

Fowler's band, Aztec Two-Step, burst upon the scene with their self-titled debut album in 1972. Dean's band Devonsquare, signed by Ahmet Ertegun, the legendary Chairman of Atlantic Records, CD "Bye Bye Route 66" spawned several critically acclaimed singles including "If You Could See Me Now." Collectively Fowler and Dean have toured worldwide sharing stages with such musical luminaries as Bruce Springsteen, Bonnie Raitt, Jackson Browne and The Band.

Known for their impeccable musicianship, The Nutopians play an impressive array of instruments performed by a host of talented musicians on acoustic, electric and bass guitars, cello, violin, mandola, accordion, piano, chromatic harmonica and light percussion. The musicians include Tom Dean - 6 & 12 string guitars, mandola & vocals; Rex Fowler - rhythm guitar & vocals; Alana MacDonald - violin & vocals; Jordan Jancz - cello & percussion; Teg Glendon - bass guitar and vocals; Robby Coffin - electric and acoustic guitars & vocals; Gary Schreiner -piano, accordion & chromatic harp; Maggie Coffin - vocals & percussion.

The Nutopians actively participate in the WhyHunger's Artists Against Hunger & Poverty program and donate a portion of their concert and CD proceeds to the organization to help raise awareness and funds for this distinguished international organization
