On Saturday, September 8th at 7:30pm, the Ridgefield Playhouse Film Society "Lost and Found Film Series" presents "Beginners", starring Christopher Plummer and Ewan McGregor. Written and directed by director Mike Mills, "Beginners" earned a 2012 Academy Award for Christopher Plummer as "Best Supporting Actor."
Christopher Plummer will be at the Q&A following the film on September 8th at the Ridgefield Playhouse.
"Beginners" tells the story of Oliver ( Ewan McGregor), a man reflecting on the life and death of his father (Christopher Plummer) while trying to forge a new romantic relationship with a woman (Melanie Laurent), dealing with father issues of her own.
The film "Beginners" is based on the true-life coming out of director/writer Mike Mills father at the age of 75, five years before his death. "Beginners" won 2011 Gotham Award for "Best Feature" and in addition to his Academy Award, Christopher Plummer won a Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actor. He also received the Denver Film Critics Society Award, the Los Angeles Film Critics Association Award, the National Board of Review Award and the Online Film Critics Award, all for "Best Supporting Actor."
