PLAY IT AGAIN, SAM Opens at Playhouse on Park, 3/6

Beginning with preview performances on Wednesday, March 6th, 2013 and running through Sunday, March 24th, Playhouse on Park welcomes "Play it Again, Sam" to its stage.

Before being adapted for the big screen in 1972, "Play it Again, Sam", written by Woody Allen, opened on Broadway to enthusiastic audiences. This quirky comedy follows the newly divorced Allan Felix as he tries to navigate the unfamiliar territory of falling in and out of love. Infamously awkward around woman, Allan turns to the advice of his hero, Humphrey Bogart, and both heartwarming and hilarious hijinks ensue.

Drama Desk Award Winner, Russell Treyz (Playhouse on Park's Around the World in 80 Days and Trapezium) directs a talented cast including Marnye Young (St. Louis Rep's Next Fall and A Christmas Story, New Harmony's The Glass Menagerie and Crimes of the Heart) as Linda and Dan Matisa (New York and Regional Theatrical productions of Richard III, Twelfth Night Taming of the Shrew, and The Producers) as Dick Christie, both making their Playhouse on Park debuts. Zane Johnston (St. Ann's Warehouse and Arena Stage's The Elephant Room, Actors Theatre of Lousiville's A Midsummer Night's Dream, Christmas Carol, and HEIST) leads as Allan along with Bethany Fitzgerald (Playhouse on Park's Chicago, Long Wharf Theatre's The Happy Prince, Ivoryton Playhouse's Hairspray, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Next, and The Full Monty) as a number of Allan's love interests and Ted D'Agostino (Playhouse on Park's Of Mice and Men, Pacific Repertory Theatre's Troilus and Cressida and Who's Afraid of Virginia Wolf) as Humphrey Bogart.

The show's run begins with preview performances on Wednesday, March 6th, and Thursday, the 7th, before opening officially on Friday, March 8th. The Opening Night performance will be preceded by a complimentary wine and cheese reception for patrons to enjoy from 7:00pm to 8:00pm and a Talk Back with the cast and director will follow the Sunday March 10th matinee.

Play it Again, Sam runs March 6th through the 24th at Playhouse on Park (244 Park Road), Hartford's most affordable and intimate professional theater, where the parking is free, the actors are right of Broadway and the back row is just four seats from the stage. Tickets range in price from $22.50 - $32.50 (Students, Seniors, Let's Go Arts members save $2.50 per ticket) and can be purchased in person or over the phone at the box office 860-523-5900 ext. 10, Tuesday to Friday (10am - 6pm); Saturday (10am - 2pm) and 2 hours before curtain; or online at www.PlayhouseOnPark.org.
