The Hartt School will present Sunday in the Park with George Thursday, December 8, Friday, December 9, and Saturday, December 10, at 7:30 PM, and Sunday, December 11, at 3:00 PM. Performances are in the Edward C. and Ann T. Roberts Foundation Theater at the Mort and Irma Handel Performing Arts Center, 35 Westbourne Parkway, Hartford. With music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and book by James Lapine, Sunday in the Park with George is directed by Hartt’s newest Theatre Division faculty member and Broadway veteran Kevin Gray, with musical direction by faculty member Michael Morris and choreography by faculty member Ralph Perkins. This 1984 musical was inspired by the painting “A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte” by George Seurat.

Sunday in the Park with George won the 1985 Pulitzer Prize for Drama, two Tony Award for Design and was nominated for Best Musical.
