Popular comic Gabriel Iglesias - "I'm not fat, I'm fluffy!" - is comfortable in his own skin. In fact he's made an industry of it.

He will emanate his accessible, cushy appeal on a stop at Jorgensen on Friday, Jan. 21, 2011, at 8 p.m.

Iglesias recently appeared in December specials on Comedy Central and did lively standup in a venue on the Dead Sea. And, he's got a Blu-ray release from Paramount Home Entertainment coming out Jan. 11, just before he lands in Storrs.

His uncanny voice effects and impressions transport his audiences from simple tales of just hanging out to a riotous dream sequence featuring former President Bill Clinton. It's no wonder Iglesias was the youngest comic in Comedy Central history to score its Special of the Year honor for 2003. In back-to-back years, he also won the channel's Favorite Comic of the Year.

He has appeared on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Comedy Central's "Premium Blend," HBO Comedy Minutes, NBC's "Showtime at the Apollo," and BET Comic View. Gabriel has also been seen numerous times on the popular Galavision show "Que Locos."

As an actor, he has been in the ABC hit sitcom, "My Wife and Kids," Showtime's original series, "Resurrection Blvd." and VH1's "I Love the 80's." One year into his stand-up career, he was a star on the popular Nickelodeon show, "All That," and won the Kids Choice Award for favorite character.

A self-effacing man of enormity, Iglesias gives up his time to speak to high school students about the importance of staying in school, avoiding gangs and pursuing a dream.

Robert Hartman, CEO of the Improv, says, "Gabriel is a future star." The future may be here.

Energetic as a comedian, he's a PT Barnum of marketing. You can go to the Fluffy Shop online and get a bobble head doll, "6 Levels of Fatness" or "I Beat Anorexia" T-shirts for men up to size 6XL and "Fluffylicious" shirts for women up to 3XL.

Jorgensen Center for the Performing Arts is located at 2132 Hillside Road on the UConn campus in Storrs. Regular tickets are $20 to $30, with some discounts available.
