Erika Van Pelt to Host SCORPION IDOL at Foxwoods' Scorpion Bar, 7/31-10/23

WHAT: The Scorpion Bar at Foxwoods Resort Casino has announced the formation of "Scorpion Idol," a three month-long karaoke contest that will be hosted by American Idol top-ten finisher, Erika Van Pelt, and DJ JKrak.

The 12-week competition will offer a Foxwoods weekend getaway grand prize, which is set to include a hotel suite, as well as food and beverage at all three Big Night Entertainment Group properties - High Rollers Luxury Lanes & Lounge; SHRINE Asian Kitchen, Lounge & Nightclub and The Scorpion Bar. Also included will be complimentary bowling at High Rollers and free admission to all three venues for nightlife fun.

WHO: Born and raised in Providence, singer, songwriter and musician, Erika Van Pelt, burst onto the scene during Season 11 of hit reality show, American Idol, where she qualified for the top ten. After graduating from the world-renowned Berklee College of Music in Boston, Van Pelt launched her own full-service mobile DJ company, VP Entertainment, in 2005. She became an independent contractor with Kaleidoscope Kabaret, performing at major venues throughout New England. Today, in addition to successfully running her own DJ business, Erika performs part-time with "The Sultans of Swing," and is a performing partner of "Fairhaven Entertainment" and "Boston Swing."
