Anjelah Johnson to Perform at Fox Theater, 4/12

Comix At Foxwoods will welcome one of today's foremost Latina standup comedians, Anjelah Johnson, for the first time to Fox Theater at Foxwoods on Friday, April 12 at 9 p.m. Tickets will be available for presale through Comix and Ticketmaster on Thursday, Feb. 21 at 10 a.m., and regular tickets will go on sale Friday, Feb. 22 at 10 a.m. Fans can purchase tickets in advance for $30 and $40. This show is for mature audiences only.

The San Jose, Cali. native was first noticed as an Oakland Raiders cheerleader, where she was named "Rookie of the Year" and performed at the Super Bowl. Since getting her big break, Johnson recurred on FOX's long-running hit, "MADtv," as one of the first Latina comedians to join a sketch comedy series, and received a 2008 ALMA Award nomination for "Outstanding Female Performance in a Comedy Television Series." In 2008, she was also invited to showcase her standup in the "New Faces" category at the Just For Laughs Montreal Comedy Festival, and she released a one-hour special for Comedy Central and a Warner Brothers Records DVD in February 2010.

Johnson's hugely successful, viral comedy video, "Nail Salon," was one of the most-viewed YouTube and Google videos of 2007, propelling her career to new heights. Her ever-growing list of credits includes guest starring on "The Shield" and "Love Inc.," and co-starring in the feature films "The Box," "Our Family Wedding" and "Alvin & the Chipmunks 2 - The Squeakuel."

Johnson has had the privilege of performing for troops in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. She can also be seen in multiple ads and commercials for many of today's top brands, such as Sprint, Visa, Snickers and All-State, to name a few. She continues to tour the country, playing to sold-out Comedy Clubs nationwide, including Cobb's, The Punchline, and at the famous Improv Comedy Clubs in Ontario, Brea, Houston and Miami.
