Additional 2012 Season Ticket Options on Sale at Westport Country Playhouse

Additional-2012-Season-Ticket-Options-on-Sale-at-Westport-Country-Playhouse-20010101

To provide more flexibility for patrons to attend theater, Westport Country Playhouse announced that “4-Play Seasonal Subscriptions,” “Pick 3 Plans” and “FlexTix” for the 2012 season will go on sale Tuesday, January 3, at noon, joining the more traditional “5-Play Subscriptions” already available. The 2012 season will include a musical, a classic comedy, a world premiere comedy and two dramas from May through November.

“It’s all about flexibility,” said David B. Byrd, Playhouse director of marketing. “Whether you choose a traditional 5-Play subscription, a 4-Play seasonal subscription, or one of our other subscription options, The Playhouse knows how busy life can be so we provide ways for you to enjoy live theater on your terms. No matter the subscription type, it’s always easy to change a ticket to another night.”

Westport Country Playhouse’s 5-play 2012 season includes “Into the Woods,” a beguiling take on timeless fairy tales, with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, book by James Lapine, directed by Mark Lamos, May 1 - 26; “The Year of Magical Thinking,” based on the National Book Award Winner by Joan Didion, directed by Nicholas Martin and featuring Maureen Anderman, June 12 - 30; Molière’s “Tartuffe,” a funny and wise farce, translated by Richard Wilbur, directed by David Kennedy, July 17 – August 4; the world premiere of “Harbor,” a comedy about a dysfunctional, loving family, by Chad Beguelin, directed by Mark Lamos, August 28 – September 15; and “A Raisin in the Sun,” the timeless classic about a black family in 1950s Southside Chicago and their quest for a piece of the American Dream, by Lorraine Hansberry, directed by Phylicia Rashad, October 9 – November 3.

4-Play Seasonal Subscriptions were designed for those with specific travel schedules throughout the calendar year. The 4-Play Spring subscription entitles the subscriber to a ticket for the first four productions of the season. The 4-Play Fall subscription entitles the subscriber to the last four productions.

The flexible Pick 3 Plan is The Playhouse’s most popular non-traditional subscription, Byrd noted. Patrons may choose any three of the 2012 Season productions and save $5 off single ticket prices. There is no fixed seating so patrons always get the best available seats when making a reservation. Pick 3 Plan subscribers also enjoy many of the generous benefits afforded traditional subscribers.

“For the busiest of the busy, Playhouse FlexTix provide the most flexibility of all Playhouse offerings,” stated Byrd. For a flat rate of $50 per ticket, a FlexTix can be redeemed in any combination for the 2012 Season. A minimum purchase of four FlexTix is required.

In addition to savings up to 40% off regular single ticket prices, subscribing to The Playhouse affords patrons many subscriber-only benefits, including guaranteed seat locations throughout the season (5- and 4-Play subscriptions only); special discounts for guest tickets and special events; opportunity to purchase tickets to programs, Script in Hand readings, family and holiday events prior to public sale; easy and free ticket exchanges (subject to upgrade charge); complimentary Guest Pass to introduce someone new to The Playhouse (5-Play subscribers only); invitations to special subscriber-only social events; misplaced ticket insurance; restaurant discounts to Playhouse restaurant partners, including The Dressing Room, DaPietro’s, Café Manolo, La Villa Trattoria, Matsu Sushi, Rizzuto’s, Tavern on Main and Thali Westport; and The Playhouse monthly e-Newsletter prior to general public receipt.
